2005′s 2nd Blog Mela might have fizzled, but the Hindi Blog Mela equivalent, चिठ्ठा चर्चा (BlogReview), has got off the ground with a link-rich collection of Hindi and English links. Good going!
On the other hand, I am not sure who’re behind this site, but I do wish that they’d consider a simultaneously translating their posts to English (like Merde in France). There are many Indians who cannot read Hindi (and even for those who can there are several challenges, but that’s the subject of another post). Also, if चिठ्ठा चर्चा’s plans for other language blog reviews get off the ground, these other-language blogs would find a much wider pan-Indian audience if translations were available (and on blogs, poster/commenters’ distributed intelligence ensures that the cost of translations is low).
India is unique in being divided by language like no other nation in the world. It would be a shame if the Indian blogosphere added to this division instead of minimizing it.
It is an open secret dear. After so much backlash, anybody will do the same. Same guys who were missing (!) their motherland while having their best time in dollarland, plagrizing english weblog’s content in to their regional language’s blogs might have started it. Shanti was 100% right to show them way out of the englisgh blog melas and now in order to attract traffic they are writing blog analaysis in Hindi. I guess they have nothing much left to write anything else.
(Sublime yourself)
I think this is responsibility of other senior English Bloggers to come forward and stop a person like ATOSH for making such cheap comments.
Atosh is not the voice of all english bloggers. And if it is……than this is very unfortunate. So friends this is time to come forward and save this Blog Mela.
as for as Hindi blogdom is concerned, those who can read hindi, would themselve judge the quality and presentation of the content, we do not need ATOSH to comment on this subject.
Atosh definitely does not speak for everyone. His charges of plagiarism are unsubstantiated and unless he comes up with more information I’m just going to ignore them.
That said, the fact that “English bloggers” are somehow not ‘stopping’ him is meaningless: what would you have us do, send him a gag order? Blogs comments are meant for commenting, everyone has the right to be taken seriously -or- make an ass out of themselves here, and I’m pretty sure the audience is smart enough to figure who’s who.
Like most bloggers, I consider myself an excellent arm-chair psychologist, and hence shall gratuitously and pompously provide a psycholanalysis.
Jitendra – One’d be tempted to say you’re insecure, but most Indians do not take well to criticism, so I don’t think you are. And in Atosh’s case here, this is not even proper criticism, so you get even more plus points.
Atosh – You should go read this post.
You not only have an axe to grind, you’re also unaware of that fact.
